Iolan Caitlin Dreher exhibited the grand and reserve champion Hampshire market hogs in the 4-H division at the Kansas State Fair Sept. 10. The hogs were bred by Jeff Nemecek of Iola. In addition, Dreher was named the Champion Junior Swine Showman for the second year in a row.
Southwind Extension District members from Allen County were among the 400 4-H members and 122 teams competing Saturday at the State Fair Family and Consumer Science judging contest.
Katie Weide led the intermediate team by placing seventh individually, and the team of Clara Wicoff, Katie Weide, Chyanne Vaughn, and Zoey Rinehart took home seventh.
The senior team members included Khrystal Smith, Allyson Hobbs and Trey Wilson. They placed 49th.
Jessica Sharp, from Allen County, competed with the Neosho County FCS Judging Team.
