Cousins earn high marks

OTTAWA — Alex Wayne Trinkle earned his high school diploma from Ottawa High School during commencement ceremonies May 12.

In addition to being an honor student, Trinkle was active with Scholar’s Bowl, varsity football, baseball, wrestling and track and field. He also was a member of the marching, pep, concert and jazz bands and orchestra. He also was a member of the 2017 American Legion state champion baseball team in Ottawa.

Meanwhile, Austin William Trinkle, Alex’s brother, and their cousin, Grace Kathryn Snethen, were recognized at the Ottawa USD 290 middle school and high school awards banquet and honors ceremony recently.

Austin, who completed the eighth grade at Ottawa Middle School, and Grace, a sixth-grader, both received student certificates for ranking in the top 5 percent academically in their class.

Austin also received the Presidential Academic Excellence Award as well as awards for his grades, sports participation and his wor in the marching and concert bands. He also was promoted to attend high school at an eighth-grade graduation ceremony.

Grace also received awards for her work for being on the honor roll and for her choral music. She also is on the Supernova Dance Academy competitive dance team.

The students are the grandchildren of Chuck and Michelle Johnson, Ottawa, and the great-grandchildren of Iolan Jeanne Ann Percy and the late Glenn Percy.

Alex and Austin are the sons of Amy Finch, Ottawa. Grace is the daughter of Scott and Beth Snethen, Ottawa.
