An Allen County staple, along with new ownership and management, has been spruced up and given a new name.
Couture, formerly the Hair Center in Gas, has been in operation under Kristen Dreher since January.
Dreher has been in the cosmetology industry for eight years. She received her cosmetology license in Manhattan and has been in Iola doing hair for six years.
She was born and raised in Gas and only thought it appropriate to choose Gas as her location of choice when she decided to open her own business.
“Being in the cosmetology industry, it’s a goal everyone works toward,” she said. “It was a final step. The timing was good and it just kind of happened.”
Dreher’s goal going into her new business is to provide a luxury and high quality service at an affordable price.
She said she understands cosmetology is an extra expense and wants to give customers the opportunity to afford taking care of themselves.
“We want everyone to leave with a professional look they can maintain and not have to pay too much,” she said.
Dreher said they constantly run specials and new customers get a new client special.
Dreher has another cosmetologist working at Couture, Vanessa Riley, who is currently attending cosmetology school in Fort Scott.
Also coming to the store will be a makeup and accessories boutique.
