Iola City Council members will discuss tonight whether to make the sale and shooting of fireworks in Iola’s city limits legal.

A fireworks ban has been in place in Iola for years.

Shortly after being seated last April, Council members briefly discussed making fireworks legal, but declined to do so. They acknowledged then the matter would be brought up again.

Also on the agenda tonight is a discussion about a proposed dog park in south Iola; discussions on purchasing wholesale electricity to sell to local customers; a review of previous city audits; and various charges the city assesses for services.

The 6 o’clock meeting will be in the New Community Building at Riverside Park.

The public is invited.
