Iola Street and Alley Department crews have begun preparing most of the city’s streets in the southwest part of town for chip-seal resurfacing.
Workers began scraping, then sweeping, off debris from the asphalt surface, as well as clearing out adjoining ditches.
The work precedes chip-seal, likely in early August, of Iola’s side streets south of Madison Avenue and west of State Street. The project will include Davis Addition.
The city routinely chip-seals individual quadrants of Iola on an annual basis.
