Candidate forum, voter registration drive in the works

A forum hosting candidates in local races will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the basement of Community National Bank, 120 E. Madison.

Allen County Farm Bureau is sponsoring the event, which will give candidates an opportunity to explain why they are running for office and answer questions from the audience.

Included will be candidates for Allen County sheriff, Jared Froggatte, Kelly Zellner and current sheriff, Bryan Murphy; candidates for Allen County attorney, Linus Thuston, currently Neosho County attorney, and Jerry Hathaway, currently Allen County attorney; and candidates for Allen County commission, Ron Ballard, and Tom Williams, who currently serves as chairman of the Allen County Commission.

 

IOLA’S Resource Center for Independent Living (RCIL) will host a voter registration drive 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday at its office at 104 S. Washington Ave.

The primary election is Aug. 2, and in order to participate, voters must be registered with proper documentation by Tuesday.

Independent living specialists will be available to help with the registration process and answer related questions. A computer will be available for online registrations.
