John Brocker has worked diligently the past 35 years to meet his clients’ needs when searching for real estate.
He was rewarded for his efforts recently with the Kansas Association of Realtors Distinguished Service Award.
“I am honored to be recognized by my fellow real estate agents,” Brocker said.
Fewer than 40 real estate agents have received the award over the past 50 years.
Brocker began his career in 1975, when Iolan Tom Powell asked him to join his real estate firm.
In 1980, he established Allen County Realty which now employees six real estate agents and two secretaries. The firm is at 513 N. State St.
Brocker has been active in local, state and national Realtor organizations. He currently serves as first vice president of the Kansas Association of Realtors and is past president of the Mid-Eastern Board of Realtors. He has served at the state level on many committees and board of directors.
“I am proud to say that throughout the years I have worked with the KAR to help pass legislation that is beneficial to both urban and rural home buyers,” he said. “We have to let legislators know that what may be good for the city could send real estate prices out of reach for the rural customer.”
Brocker is a 1970 graduate of Fontana High School and a 1974 graduate of Emporia State University. He became acquainted with Governor-elect Sam Brownback while growing up and later through work with Kansas legislators. He has been invited to attend this weekend’s governor’s ball in Topeka.
“I know Sam, and his sister, Mary, was in my class at school. I am looking forward to visiting with the family,” he said.
The Kansas Association of Realtors is a statewide trade association that provides professional education, research and information exchange among its 8,000 plus members.
