Iola area residents are encouraged to bring the family and an ingredient to throw in the pot for the first Stone Soup Supper, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Humanity House Community Garden, 600 S. First St. The event celebrates Humanity House taking ownership of the garden.
The event is based on a book of the same name, where a traveler stops at a village and fills a pot with water and a stone. Villagers each contribute an ingredient to complete the soup.
The event also includes live music, a mud pie making contest and playing in the dirt, rock painting, a baby pool kickball game and a watermelon seed spitting contest.
