Community National Bank, 120 E. Madison Ave., was broken into early today, but the intruder fled almost as quickly as he entered through a broken window, spooked by alarms.
“The bad news is we have a mess to clean up,” of broken glass from the shattered window on the east side of the bank, said Ken Gilpin, the bank’s president. “The good news is nothing was taken.”
A variety of alarm systems, including motion-activated, alerted police officers almost instantaneously.
“The police were here within seconds of when the window was broken,” Gilpin said.
Officers, with the advantage of video showing the burglar, were investigating the break-in today. As of late morning no arrests had been made.
