The public is invited to a brainstorming session tonight to come up with ideas about how to celebrate the Bowlus Fine Arts Center.

The facility will celebrate its 50th anniversary starting in July 2013 and carrying through 2014.

“We have so many wonderful things to celebrate, we can’t contain it in one year,” said Susan Raines, Bowlus executive director.

Thomas H. Bowlus donated the land as well as $2 million for the construction of the Bowlus Center upon his death in 1960. The Bowlus was open to the public in 1964.

Organizers hope to have a jam-packed year with entertainment and educational activities, ending in 2014.

Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 in the Creitz Recital Hall in the Bowlus.
