Hundreds of curious onlookers made their way to the Durand Depot east of Yates Center Sunday for the arrival of Union Pacifics historic steam locomotive 4014. Nicknamed The Big Boy, 4014 is making a cross-country trek as part of the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroads completion. The 14-wheeled, 1.2 million-pound behemoth was in service from 1941 to the early 1960s, and was recently refurbished for the anniversary trek across the western United States.
