Iolan Lee Berg, accused of setting a string of grass and hay fires across northern Allen County, was formally charged this week with 21 felony counts of arson.
Allen County Attorney Wade Bowie filed the charges Wednesday, accusing Berg of setting fires on an almost daily basis from Aug. 16 through Sept. 13.
Officers arrested Berg Sept. 13 at the scene of one of the fires along Utah Road southeast of Geneva Township.
Berg, 19, was a member of the Allen County Volunteer Fire Department.
Berg appeared Wednesday in front of Judge Thomas Saxton in Magistrate Court. Saxton set his bond at $210,000, cash or surety.
He remains in custody.
Saxton scheduled a status hearing for Oct. 19.
