Jennifer Rader, director of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism’s Southeast Kansas Nature Center, presented a lesson about bats to an audience Friday at the Iola Public Library. Rader detailed the different species of bats, particularly those native to Kansas, and the vital role the winged mammals play in the ecosystem.
