Three Kincaid residents, including two children, were killed in a traffic accident north of Burlington Friday afternoon.
Killed in the accident were Kris Devoe, 28, Payton Devoe, 4, and Lexi Tolbert, 7, all passengers in a sport utility vehicle being driven by Johnathan S. Kilpatrick, 22, Kincaid.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kilpatrick was southbound on U.S. 75 between New Strawn and Burlington when he struck the rear end of a Mack dump truck being driven by Walter S. Snyder, 68, Waverly.
Snyder was stopped on the highway attempting to turn east onto County Road 15, according to KHP.
Kilpatrick suffered what were described as “disabling” injuries and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
Also injured were Kayla Devoe, 27, Kincaid, who was transported to KU Medical Center, and Megan and Skylar Kilpatrick, 2 and 1, respectively, both taken to Children’s Mercy North in Kansas City, Mo.
Funeral services for Kris Devoe, Payton Devoe and Lexi Tolbert will be announced later by Feuerborn Family Funeral Service of Garnett.
