An evening of music and visual art will fill the Bowlus Fine Arts Center Saturday.
Activities kick off at 6 p.m. with an artist reception for Ann Snyder, a painter from of Mountain View, Ark., and sister of Iolan Donna Houser.
There, a wide array of oil, acrylic and watercolor pieces are on display in the Mary Martin Art Gallery.
“Painting is fulfilling,” Snyder said in a press release. “But most rewarding is sharing and teaching what I have learned, especially when I can express the energy that comes from painting, and to see people who have never painted get excited about unfolding their hidden talent with art.”
Snyder’s workshops have taken her to Mississippi, Wyoming, the Carolinas, Arizona, Kansas and elsewhere in Arkansas. She has exhibited in galleries in Arkansas and Kansas, as well as in private art galleries across the United States.
Doors open at 5:30. The reception is free of charge.

ONE OF Canada’s most renowned guitar ensembles follows at 7 o’clock in the Creitz Recital Hall.
The Montreal Guitar Trio will perform a wide variety of musical genres.
Winner of the 2011 Opus Award for “concert of the year” in the Jazz & World Music category, the Montreal Guitar Trio has released seven albums, including “Der Prinz” on Analekta label, which earned him a nomination at ADISQ 2014 for the “Instrumental Album” of the year.
The group’s most recent release “Danzas,” pays tribute to the great composers of Spanish music, including Paco de Lucia and Manuel de Falla.
The trio, composed of guitarists Marc Morin, Glenn Lévesque and Sébastien Dufour, has given hundreds of concerts in some of the most prestigious venues across North America, Europe, New Zealand and Australia, including the legendary Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Rundetårnet in Copenhagen and the BB King Blues Club in New York City.
The trio has collaborated and shared the stage with world-renowned ensembles and artists, such as the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, Jorane and Solorazaf.
Their most memorable collaboration to date was, without a doubt, with the California Guitar Trio (CGT), when both ensembles joined forces to give an unforgettable concert, brilliantly performing some of the greatest rock classics from The Beatles, Radiohead, David Bowie, a few “spaghetti western” themes by Ennio Morricone, as well as some of their original compositions.
Tickets for the concert sell for $12 apiece for adults and $6 for students.
