The USD 257 Alumni Endowment Association is now technology savvy. In an effort to better reach out to alumni, association president, Laura Caillouet-Weiner, enlisted chairman Brett Linn to erect an alumni association website
“We wanted to go back to the focus of the Association, which is to provide support to help maximize educational opportunities,” Caillouet-Weiner said.
For the last two years Linn has worked on an Alumni Endowment Association website.
The Alumni Endowment Association was established in 1992 with many goals in mind. The Association encourages funding that will support quality education within the school district. The group has completed projects such as the track remodel in 2004, the purchase of new Iola High School band uniforms and instruments in the 2003-2004 school year and string instrument donations to the Iola High School string orchestra program in 2010.
Linn said the Association is currently taking proposals on future projects. If an invididual has a project in mind they can reach out to the Association for recommendations.
“We really are trying to reach out and enhance the district in any way, shape or form,” Caillouet-Weiner said.
The current task is to connect with alumni more efficiently to continue successful projects.
“We wanted to provide a place for classes to put out their information and connect with each other,” Caillouet-Weiner said.
Linn said class officers can send in information on reunions and class news to him and he can get it on the website. This year the classes of 1954, 1964 and 1974 are celebrating monumental reunions. They are featured on the website.
“We have posted class newsletters and event times for people on the site,” Linn said.
