?Lindsey Temaat, managing editor of ?The Allen Flame?, Allen Community Colleges student newspaper, is the Kansas Collegiate Media Journalist of the Year for 2019.
Temaat won the award in the Two-Year University Division Monday at the Kansas Collegiate Media Spring Conference in Wichita.
The application process included letters of recommendation from advisers and college administrators, a personal essay and writing samples.
The Allen Flame Staff attended the conference for the first time in the schools history this year. Prior to attending Allen, Temaat graduated from Riley County High School where she was the editor of The Talon? and wrote for ?The Riley Countian newspaper?.
During her freshman year at Allen, Temaat completed a year long communications internship at Thrive Allen County. In addition to journalism at Allen, Temaat is the Student Senate president and is involved in choir, band and theater.
