Life in Iola of 80 years ago will be featured at Tuesday’s spring meeting of the Allen County Historical Society.

The meeting’s centerpiece is an 18-minute video, a 1940 colorized 16-millimeter film that  recently has been converted to a digital format.

The video shows several scenes of yesteryear, from the arrival of a Santa Fe train, the Iola High School marching band accentuated with dazzling baton twirlers, images of the Lehigh Cement plant and several shots of local schoolchildren.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be held in the Iola High School Lecture Hall, and is open to the public. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
