A variety of music and instruments will be on display this week as the Allen Community College Music Department will present The Student Music Recital at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Malmgren Music Studio, Room C-23 at the college.
Students will showcase their skills, from beginners to advanced musicians, offering pieces that vary from the baroque period to modern musicals, including a song from the new Mary Poppins movie. Expect to hear a saxophone quartet, a percussion duet with a marimba and drums, woodwinds, piano solos, a guitar solo and more.
Its kind of a variety show, Jeffrey Anderson, band director, said. Its something we do every semester that counts as a students final, but we open it up to the public and transform our music room into a recital hall.
Light refreshments will be provided.
