Allen Community College won’t get another dean after all.
College trustees, meeting in special session Tuesday to accept the resignation of Vice President of Student Affairs Randy Weber, were split in their opinions about whether the position should be converted to a dean’s level.
As a result, ACC President John Masterson said the college will maintain the status quo. The position will remain as a vice president.
“It wasn’t going to make a big difference one way or the other,” Masterson said.
Converting from a vice president to a dean would have changed slightly the command structure for the jobholder, Masterson said.
Trustees did agree to pull the athletic director’s duties from Weber’s former position.
The plan, Masterson said, is to hire an athletic director from the current coaching staff.
In a related matter, trustees accepted the resignation of Jordan Knowles, an assistant soccer coach.
