Robin Schallie has resigned her position on the Allen Community College Board of Trustees.
Schallie declined to go into specifics regarding her decision, announced Tuesday at the trustees’ monthly meeting, other than to say she didn’t want decisions made there to affect her role with the Iola Area Chamber of Commerce.
Schallie is the Chamber’s executive director.
She had been on the trustees board since January 2022, after being appointed to fill a seat won by Iolan Mark Peters in the 2021 general election. Peters decided against fulfilling his role as a trustee after being notified it could create a conflict with his other duties as an Iola city councilman.
A replacement will be sought to fill the rest of the term, which runs through December 2025.
In other personnel matters, the remaining four trustees approved the hiring of Lisa Wicoff as a biology and anatomy and physiology instructor, Felipe Padilla as an early childhood education program advocate and Ryan Hughes as an assistant cross country and track coach and residence hall director.
Board members also accepted the resignation of Kim Murry as comptroller.
