LAHARPE — One of Allen County Animal Rescue Facility’s missions is to encourage pet owners to have their animals spayed or neutered as a means to control the population of feral or otherwise neglected dogs and cats.
Armed with a grant from Your Community Foundation, continued support from the Second Chance Thrift Store in Iola and a donation from a private Allen Countian, ACARF is offering $100 vouchers for lower income Allen County residents who want to get their pets fixed.
The vouchers can be taken to any local veterinary clinic from Iola, Chanute, Garnett or Bronson.
The $100 voucher should be enough to cover all spaying and neutering costs, except for some larger dogs, according to an ACARF press release.
ACARF organizers are eager to make the spaying and neutering voucher program sustainable through fundraising efforts and private donations.
To apply for the $100 voucher, stop by the ACARF shelter on the east edge of LaHarpe along U.S. 54 between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
