The Allen County Farmers Market opens for the 2018 growing season at 5:30 p.m. Thursday on Iolas courthouse square.
The market has three locations this year: Thursdays, 5:30-7 p.m., in downtown Iola; Tuesdays, 1:30-4 p.m. at 700 N. State St., beginning May 2; and Saturdays, 8-11 a.m. Saturdays at Moons Market in Humboldt, beginning May 5.
The Allen County Farmers Market features locally grown produce, baked goods, plants, eggs, meat, and honey along with the use of VISION/debit cards, homegrown entertainment and chefs doing cooking demonstrations.
Look for early spring vegetables, sweets, homemade baked goods, honey, jams and jellies, eggs and meat. Other treasures include crafts and natural personal and home products. Vendors who are waiting for produce to get ready are encouraged to have brochures, flyers, business cards and displays to share. Should you need help carrying any of your purchases let our staff at the information tent know and they will be happy to assist you.
Relay for Life will have a station as well.
The market accepts EBT, debit and credit cards and participates in the Double Up Food Bucks Program.
Opening night also will include free popcorn from 6 to 6:30.
