When you can shoot fireworks, and where

Iolans can begin shooting fireworks today, with some limits.

Most types of aerial works — mortar shells, Roman candles and other rocket-type works — are banned in Iola city limits. Bottle rockets are illegal anywhere in Kansas, Iola included.

Fireworks can be shot in Iola from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. through July 5.

Other communities have to wait a few more days.

In Humboldt, fireworks can be shot starting Sunday, from 8 a.m. to midnght each day through July 4.

LaHarpe, meanwhile, allows fireworks displays starting Monday, and running through July 4.

Moran and Gas, meanwhile, are in line with state regulations, allowing fireworks to be shot starting today, and running through July 5.
