Duane Lee Scharff and Michelle Ann Tholen, Moran, were married Aug. 13, 2011, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Iola. The Rev. Robert Wachter officiated.
Special guests were grandparents Floyd and Naomi Cosens, Pleasanton, and Alice Tholen, Margorie Klimek and Dan Arbuckle and Mike and Linda Cross, all of Moran.
The bride’s attendants were Casey Bradshaw, Pittsburg, maid of honor, and bridesmaids, Tonya Tomory, Pittsburg, Chelsea Noel, Emporia, cousin of the bride, and Amy Trotnic, Tonganoxie.
Jerry Donaldson, Pittsburg, was the best man. Groomsmen were Derek Scharff, Moran, brother of the groom, Taylor Scharff, Fort Scott, the groom’s father, and Josh Granere, Elsmore.
Mark Tholen, Pittsburg, the bride’s brother, served as an usher, as did Kyle McAloon, Moran.
Anndrea Kelly, Pittsburg, and Olivia Billups, Stafford, Va., served as candle lighters. Noah Leingang, St. Louis, Mo., cousin of the bride, was a ring bearer. Payton Scharff, Moran, niece of the groom, was the flower girl.
The bride is the daughter of Bob and Julie Tholen, Moran, and is a public health nurse for the Virginia Department of Health.
The groom is the son of Karen Scharff, Moran, and Taylor Scharff, Fort Scott, and is a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in Quantico, Va.
Following a honeymoon on the Big Island, Hawaii, the couple are at home in Stafford, Va.
