The Iola Municipal Band celebrates its 150th year. Concerts are Thursday evenings at 8 o'clock throughout June and July.

Since 1871, the Iola Municipal Concert Band has been providing music for the community. Directed by Jake Ard, the group returned to action Thursday night and played a number of star spangled favorites. Ard also explained how the concert band began, when Civil War veterans would gather in a therapeutic experience of sharing memories and song. REGISTER/SUSAN LYNN
