Karen and Jim Gilpin, Iola, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Marie Gilpin to John Harrison Maier, the son of Marilyn Maier, Piqua, and Bill Maier, Iola.
Maternal grandparents are the late Helen and Howard Gilpin of Iola and Jessie and Aubrey Park of Oakley. Paternal grandparents are Jean Maier and the late John Maier of Iola and JoAnne Pearce of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Bill Lipps of Winlock, Wash.
Sarah and John are both graduates of Iola High School. Sarah completed her degree in cosmetology from B Street Design and School of International Hair Styling and is now assistant manager at a Great Clips Salon in Overland Park.
John attended Allen Community College and is now employed by Black and McDonald in Kansas City as a surveyor and utilities designer.
A Sept. 26, 2015 wedding at First Presbyterian Church in Iola is planned.
