Allen County Area Retired School Personnel met Wednesday at Iolas Calvary Methodist Church.
A breakfast was prepared and served by the churchs mens club to 27 members and guest, Jane Martin of Chanute.
Iola High School senior Brody Nemecek, presented a program on the Southwind Livestock Judging Teams trip to Scotland, Ireland and England this past summer.
Jane Martin, Dist. 6 director, gave a report on the state convention and presented the following service awards: Donna Houser, The Unit Service Award for contributing the highest number of service hours in the unit and The Distinguished Service Award for contributing more than 3,000 volunteer hours; Diana Asher, Linda Johnson and Paul Upshaw for between 1,200 and 1,500 volunteer hours, and Ellen Thompson for between 900 and 1,100 volunteer hours.
Kell Smalley, District Manager for Association Member Benefits Advisors, spoke on benefits and discounts available to the retired school personnel.
President Paul Upshaw announced the next meeting will be at noon Oct. 2 in the Mary Ellen Stadler Room at Allen Comunity College.
