Sexual assault case reported
Following an investigation, a recently reported alleged sexual assault involving a child that occurred over five years ago in the rural LaHarpe area is being forwarded to the Allen County Attorney for review and charging considerations.
Man reporting being scammed, is arrested
Donald D. Diebolt, 73, rural Iola, reported Wednesday that he had fallen victim to a cryptocurrency scam and lost $6,300 over the past month.
During the investigation, Diebolt was arrested on warrants from Johnson County and McDonald County, Mo., related to charges of passing a bad check.
Diebolt remains in custody awaiting extradition to Missouri.
Two arrested
On Friday, Allen County deputies executed a search warrant at 223 S. Buckeye, Apartment 2. Items believed to be drugs and drug paraphernalia were removed from the residence, and Marie L. Stroud, 58, and Tina L. Wickey, 47, were taken into custody.
Stroud was booked into Allen County Jail on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; Wickey was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both are being held without bond.
Driver arrested
Iola police officers arrested Jocelyn Miller Sunday evening in the 100 block of West Neosho Street for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, following a non-injury accident.
Accident causes power outage
Friday evening, a semi grain trailer, being driven by Elijah Farran, hit a street sign and snagged an electric pole guy wire which caused the loss of electricity to several residences near the intersection of 18th Street and Broadway Avenue in LaHarpe. No injuries were reported and there was minimal damage to the grain trailer.
Domestic dispute reported, no arrests
Allen County Regional Hospital staff reported Friday a possible domestic abuse case, due to a patient seeking treatment for injuries.
