Hit-and-run reported
Haley R. Bauer told Iola police officers Aug. 27 she was stopped while northbound on Washington Avenue for the U.S. 54 stoplight when a motorist in a black car backed up and struck her vehicle.
The driver left the scene without stopping, Bauer said.
Vehicles collide
Linda C. Whitcomb was turning from Miller Road to go north on Kentucky Street Sept. 4 when her sport utility vehicle collided with an SUV driven by Janice I. Oberg.
Oberg was turning from Kentucky onto Miller Road when the accident occurred.
Officers said Oberg was treated for possible injuries.
Disabled vehicle found
Iola police officers came upon an unusual scene Sept. 6, when they found a pickup in the 1000 block of North Cottonwood Street, missing a front tire.
The truck apparently skidded to a stop after the tire failure, officers said, noting about 200 feet worth of roadway damage.
The pickup, whose owner was located shortly after, was towed from the scene.
Bicycle found
Iola police officers recovered a women’s bicycle Sept. 5 along the Prairie Spirit Trail. The bike was originally teal in color, officers said.
