MV forensics team earns high marks

MORAN — Marmaton Valley High School’s forensics team took home fifth place at a competitive speaking and acting competition in Neodesha on Jan. 26.

Individually, Tea Smith took first place in serious solo acting and fourth in poetry. 

Rachel Shaffer finished second in humorous solo acting.

Allison Heim and Shaffer teamed up to take fifth place in improvised duet acting.

Kassie Beggs finished sixth in serious solo acting, and Nate McAloon sixth in impromptu speaking.

On Saturday, Marmaton Valley traveled to Iola’s forensics meet. Smith again was the winner in serious solo acting. Shaffer took second in humorous solo acting.

Marmaton Valley will host its own forensics meet Saturday.
