MV band students earn state bids

Eleven Marmaton Valley High School students qualified for the State Music Festival April 28 at Hesston. The school entered 11 entries at the regional Music Festival for Solos and Small Ensembles Saturday at Independence Community College. Seven of those entries received I ratings and qualified for state. All entries received a I or II rating on a scale of I-V.

Isabelle Bigelow, senior – Vocal trio, vocal ensemble

Clara Boyd, senior — Vocal solo, vocal trio, vocal ensemble, F horn solo, brass quartet

Genna Mitchell, senior — Vocal ensemble

Selena Veenstra, senior — Vocal ensemble

Kaitlyn Knavel, senior — Vocal ensemble

Elizabeth Johnson, junior — F horn solo, brass quartet

Kari Shadden, junior — Clarinet solo

Ty Scharff, sophomore — Brass quartet

Rachel Shaffer, sophomore — Vocal trio, vocal ensemble

Kaylee Becker, freshman — Brass quartet

Lexis Jones, freshman — Vocal ensemble
