TOPEKA Seven members of the Marmaton Valley Future Business Leaders of America attended the State FBLA Conference April 2-3 at Topekas Expo Center.
Junior Ty Scharffs 10th-place finish in personal finance qualified him to attend the National FBLA Conference in San Antonio, Texas, in June.
Others attending from Marmaton Valley were seniors Elizabeth Johnson, Kari Shadden, Braden Westervelt, Jasmine Gardner and Patricia Outlan; and junior Nate McAloon.
The conference included students taking comprehensive tests in many different areas of business against FBLA students from across the state.
THE STUDENTS qualified for state by placing in the top 10 in their respective competitions at the District 1 FBLA Conference held previously at Erie.
Johnson placed third in accounting and seventh in personal finance; Gardner finished fourth in accounting. Scharff took second in personal finance and fifth in accounting I. McAloon placed seventh in impromptu speaking and 10th in cybersecurity.
