Lloyd and Neva Turner

Lloyd Wayne and Neva Shanlene (Batemon) Turner are celebrating 60 years of marriage today.
They were married on June 13, 1955, in Carlyle, by Judge Upshaw. Lloyd and Nadine Turner and Harold R. Bateman and Sharlene Bateman were witnesses.
After the ceremony Wayne and Neva moved to Wichita where Wayne worked for Globe Road Construction. Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy and after boot training Neva joined Wayne in New York for school. They were in Portsmouth, Va. and Norfolk, Va., while Wayne was aboard the USS Forresto/59. After tour he was released from the Navy in 1959. They followed pipelines and road construction for years.
In 1969 they moved back to the area and have resided in LaHarpe for 42 years. Wayne retired at Allen County as a grounds and maintenance worker. Neva is retired from Miller’s Dress Factory, Columbia Metal and Tramec.
They have three children, Linda Sharlene Turner, Debra Kay Kiethy and Darrel Joesph Turner. They have four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
