K-State Research and Extension will offer an opportunity to learn about ponds.
The program, “Pondering Ponds: Aquatic Weed Management, Fish Stocking and Feeding and Pond Construction,” will be offered at two locations in May.
• 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 4 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Riverside Park in Independence.
• 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 5 at the Neosho River Park in Humboldt (rain location: Iola Extension Office).
Speakers include:
• Dan Mosier II with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism. He’s the manager of Farlington Fish Hatchery and will discuss fish species selection, stocking rates and proper nutrition.
Joe Gerken, K-State Research & Extension aquatic specialist. He’ll discuss balancing aquatic weeds for fishing needs.
Justin Kramer and David Stephen, NCRS engineering technicians, will talk about proper pond construction.
