Kathy Hale of Savonburg Public Library, and Lesa Cole and Sarah Gragg of Iola Public Library attended a summer reading “space craft” workshop at the Parsons Public Library on April 17.

Southeast Kansas Library System staff attending the workshop were able to network and share creative summer programming ideas and participate through hands-on demonstrations.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) concepts through crafting and programming experiences were shared.  Research indicates that summer reading programs in the library help children and teens retain and enhance their reading skills and programming offered during summer months can support what is offered in the classroom.
