The Kappa Alpha Chapter, Phi Tau Omega Sorority met May 6 and voted to collect gently worn shoes for the ACARF fundraiser. The shoes will be sold by the pound, and will help to create and grow small businesses in Haiti and other developing nations, as well as raise money for ACARF.  Shoes will be collected at the next Kappa Alpha meeting on June 3.

Members will collect food items again this month for the Community Food Pantry.

Fourteen Kappa Alpha members helped the Presbyterian Church with Sunday Soups on April 28, and members also donated 5½ cases of a dietary supplement to a cancer patient in April.

The Trunks of Treasure Sale is planned for Saturday at the old Country Mart parking lot.  The sale will start at 8 a.m., and various items will be sold from members’ car trunks.  All proceeds will go to the Kappa Alpha Cancer Fund, to help aid local area cancer patients with traveling expenses.

A letter from Marilyn Paul, national president, was read regarding registration and chapter sales deadlines of May 24 for the National Convention to be held June 28-30 in West Des Moines, Iowa.

The next social will be May 20, with place and time to be announced. Janet Wilson and Susan Locke will be hostesses.

The next business meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 3 at the Community National Bank.
