Kappa Alpha members plan for convention

Members of Kappa Alpha sorority made plans for their national convention at Monday’s meeting. Eight active members and one past member attended the meeting at Community National Bank.

Rhodenia Rowe, Barbara Anderson and Jolene Boeken were chosen as delegates to attend the June 28-30 Phi Tau Omega National Convention in West Des Moines, Iowa. 

Iola Senior Citizens donated $1,00 to the Kappa Alpha Cancer Fund, which provides gas cards for cancer patients traveling for treatments. This is the second year the Senior Citizens donated to the fund.

New officers for 2019-20 are: president, Lucinda Stanley; vice president, Janet Wilson; secretary, Susan Locke; social secretary, Jolene Boeken; treasurer, Carla Hunt; scribe, Rhodenia Rowe; historian, Barbara Anderson; and Sergeant-At-Arms, Sharon Bland.

Members gathered gently worn shoes for the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility fundraiser.

Jeanna Church will host the next Kappa Alpha social June 17 at a time and place to be announced. The next business meeting is at 7 p.m. July 1 at CNB. Mary LaCrone and Lucinda Stanley will host.
