The Kappa Alpha Sorority collected food as part of a national platform, “Feeding the Hungry,” when 12 members met Monday at Community National Bank. Members collected non-perishable food items and plan to deliver them to the Iola Community Pantry. The effort is part of the national president’s platform to help with hunger issues.

Members also heard reports that five gas cards had been given to cancer patients. The group plans a Founder’s Day event March 9 at the Community Building in Riverside Park.

Eleven members helped the Presbyterian Church on Jan. 27 with Sunday Soups. This was a philanthropic project for the chapter, as well as the January social.  Members that helped serve the meal at Sunday Soups also enjoyed the delicious food and socialized.

The Kappa Alpha social will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 19, at the new Community Building at Riverside Park.

The next business meeting will be at 7 p.m. on March 4 at Community National Bank.
