John Hillbrant and Eileen Smith were married at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola on May 28, 1966. The Rev. Paul Pence officated.
Today is their 50th wedding anniversary.
The Hillbrants have two children, Leslie Hillbrant and Rusty Hillbrant, and one grandchild, Hayden Hillbrant.
John Hllbrant served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Berlin, Germany.
After the service, he worked for Boeing Aircraft, Mid-Kansas Construction and Land/Herzog Construction.
He retired after working as a meter reader for the City of Iola for 17 years.
Eileen Hillbrant taught physical education in Marysville and then Valley Center.
She operated a day care in Iola at the time of her retirement.
