Two Iola elementary school students received honorable mention for safety posters they designed for the Kansas Farm Bureau Safety Poster Program.
Sydney Hayes, a second-grader at Jefferson Elementary School, and Michaela Riebel, a fifth-grader at Iola Middle School, earned honorable mention in Divisions I and III, respectively.
Posters are judged at the county level, and the top poster from each division is submitted for judging at the state level.
Posters were narrowed down to the top 10 in each division and then judged by a team of volunteers.
The poster contest highlights the dangers facing children, said Tori White, Safety Chair for Allen County Farm Bureau in an ACFB press release.
