Do you any “littles” in your life? They are invited to rediscover the children’s department at the Iola Public Library.

Everything in the new grant-funded “Grow Your Brain” family play area is based on whole child development and supports imaginative, creative, social, and interactive play in young children.

Library Littles storytimes and monthly playdates with Lesa Cole are on the calendar, too.

On Mondays we host a Chess Club at 6 p.m. On May 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. the library will partner with ACARF for an Adoption Day. Nail trimming and microchipping will also be offered.

Looking for at-home entertainment? Stream a program or two through Thrive Allen County’s televeda.com partnership.

Along with Mary Ann Regehr’s Monday morning yoga class at 7 a.m., the library is highlighting journaling, drawing and painting, and creative writing workshops found in the May catalog of online events. Curious to know more? We’d love help!

In June and July, join us down at the shore for a wave of programs and events for the Summer Reading Program. The theme is “Oceans of Possibilities” and Lesa is turning the children’s department into an underwater wonderland, complete with a shark. Registration opens June 6 and the calendar features crafternoons, movie nights, storytimes, playdates, water fun, and a wrap-up party on Aug. 5. Alan Cunningham will be here for a family concert and sing-along on Tuesday, June 14 at 3:30 pm.

Information and details about all of these programs and more can be found at iolapubliclibrary.org or on our social media. Stop by and see us! Sharon Moreland, Director
