Local activities Wednesday to commemorate Sept. 11 attack victims included presentations from Air Force Veteran and LaHarpe Veterans of Foreign Wars member Kim Swearingen, who spoke to Greystone Residential Care residents about the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath.

Local activities Wednesday to commemorate Sept. 11 attack victims included presentations from Air Force Veteran and LaHarpe Veterans of Foreign Wars member Kim Swearingen, who spoke to Greystone Residential Care residents about the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath.

An additional part of the LaHarpe VFW program was to recognize Greystone resident Juanita Seibert for her service with the U.S. Navy as a codebreaker during World War II. An article detailing Seibert?s story will be in Saturday?s Register. 

 

Retired Marine and Allen County Veterans Day member Tom Nevans speaks to a busload of veterans now living at Moran Manor Nursing Home, below. Nevans?s presentation detailed the history of the Veterans Wall in front of the Allen County Courthouse.

 

Veterans from Moran manor were a part of a Sept. 11 ceremony at the Veterans Wall in Iola.
