IMS students earn end-of-year recognition

Iola Middle School honored the best of the best to cap the 2018-19 school year with Awards Day.

Macie Hoag and Jesse Taylor were named recipients of the American Legion Award, which recognizes one eighth-grade girl and boy for their work in and out of the classroom. Students are nominated by IMS staff members and voted on by staff and students.

Caiden Cloud and Jake Skahan were named recipients of the KSHSAA Citizenship Award, which also honors an eighth-grade girl and boy for demonstrating respect, responsibility and reverence. The award was selected by IMS coaches.

The American Citizenship Award goes to two students from each grade level, as chosen by their teachers, who demonstrate a positive attitude toward classmates, school and community, and exhibit other traits and skills centered on civic responsibility.

Those earning all A’s were named to the Principal’s Honor Roll. They are:

Eighth grade — Caiden Cloud, Elsie Fleming, Macie Hoag, Hallie McDermeit and Jesse Taylor.
