IHS forensics wins Pioneer League crown

Iola High School’s forensics team continues to excel in its competitive acting and speaking competitions in 2019, winning a league championship and pulling in two other top-two finishes.

In winning the Pioneer League Meet March 2 in Burlington, Iola won four events — Parker Smith in humorous solo acting, Isabella Duke in serious solo acting, Gaby Lampe and Sadrie Overall in duet acting and Katie Weide in extemporaneous speaking — while finishing in second five times.

The results from that meet, as well as the Pittsburg Invitational Feb. 23 and the Baldwin Invitational Saturday follow.

Pittsburg Invitational

Iola finished second out of 21 schools, missing first place by a single point.

Iola High School won the meet, and thus is Pioneer League champion.
