Gregerson gets doctorate

Le Roy High School valedictorian completes doctorate studies at KU.

Sabrina Gregerson, valedictorian of the  Le Roy High School Class of 2001, recently earned her Ph.D.

Gregerson is the daughter of Rob and Teresa Gregerson and granddaughter of Wilma and Viktor Morrison and Dorothy and Gene Gregerson.

She successfully completed her doctorate studies Feb. 17 by defending her dissertation, “Integrating Attention Network Theory and the Dual Process Model of Avoidance.”

Her research studies the differences in attention and emotion, hemispheric differences of emotions and the cognitive and neural aspects of adult attachment style.

Gregerson completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas in 2010 by earning a bachelor’s degree in science. She earned her master of arts degree in psychological science in 2013 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. 

She then returned to Lawrence to complete her doctorate at KU.

Gregerson works as an associate researcher for the University of Kansas College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the Department of Psychology. She lives in Lawrence with her husband, Paul Szpyrka, and their two young sons.
