Heartland Rural Electric Cooperative awarded 27 grants through its Operation Roundup program, which allows participating members to round up their electric bills to the next highest dollar and donate the overage to area charities. Wings of Warriors Cancer Foundation received a $2,000 donation from the program, and another $500 from the local office at Gas. Other local grant recipients included Hope Unlimited in Iola and the backpack food for kids program at St. Timothys Episcopal Church in Iola.
