MANHATTAN Several area high school FFA members earned their State FFA Degrees at the 91st Kansas FFA Convention, which ran Wednesday through Friday at Kansas State University.
The state degree is the highest honor bestowed from the Kansas FFA Association to its members.
Area students earning their state degrees:
Iola Torrance DePriest, Annika Hobbs, Jillian Keller and Brody Nemecek;
Marmaton Valley Karlie Stephens;
Yates Center Trayton Audiss, Connor Griffith, Maria Jimenez, Jaymond Rice, Tytan Smoot and Jordan Weseloh.
To qualify, students must have received their Chapter FFA Degree, been an FFA member and agricultural education student for at least two years; earned at least $2,000 or worked 600 hours in their supervised agricultural experience program; given a six-minute speech about agriculture or FFA; participated in at least eight leadership activities; maintained a C average or better and high school; and shown a record of leadership and community involvement.
Fifty-seven Southeast District FFA members earned state degrees this year.
