Eli and Lana Burney, Iola, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their son, Nathaniel Taylor Burney, to Becky Ann Rakes, daughter of Kathrine Rakes, Nebraska City, Neb.
The bride-elect is a 2009 graduate of Nebraska City High School. She is employed as a certified nurse’s aide at Duff’s Memorial Friendship Villa.
The groom-to-be is a 2005 graduate of Iola High School and a graduate of Missouri Welding Institute. He is employed full-time by Storrer Implement Inc. as service manager and is a member of the Kansas National Guard.
The couple are planning a July 10 wedding at First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City.
