Maxine Redfearn hosted a March 14 Dirt Diggers Garden Club meeting.

Members planned a field trip to Little John Sherwood Greenhouse and lunch in Garnett at 11 a.m. April 18.

Dorothy McGhee gave a program, “Nearly Perfect Phlox.”

The Jeana is a lavender-pink phlox. Its extra long blooms are a butterfly magnet.

It sports a sweet fragrance from mid to late summer, and its leaves stay bright green from spring to fall.

Jeana doesn’t require much maintenance. Add water during dry spells and put wood chips around as mulch. They should be divided every few years. Jeana makes a great backdrop to coneflowers, spike speedwell and daylilies.

Redfearn served refreshments to five members.
